Giving sustainability a boost
Climate debates, CO2 footprint, supply chain due diligence law, ESG reporting – sustainability is increasingly becoming the top business issue. Management levels of various companies recognize that sustainability and economic success are are not mutually exclusive, but are in fact
even require each other in the long term. A sustainable corporate strategy is now required, as it is expected that the EU will demand that a linear economy develops into a circular economy by 2050.
In order to no longer be one of the 64 percent1 of companies where the CEO is responsible for achieving sustainability targets, you need to fill the new position of sustainability officer, as is the case in many places, or hire the experts from sustainical, who will work with you to create an appropriate and holistic sustainability strategy.

- According to the Horvath Study 2023 – sustainability takes place at C-level
A large proportion of the managers surveyed (41%) named the CEO as being solely responsible for achieving sustainability goals. According to the survey, 64% of respondents in Germany believe that sustainability is the responsibility of the CEO. Representatives from France, Italy and Spain, on the other hand, attribute a higher than average level of responsibility for sustainability goals to the CFO.
As a cross-cutting issue, sustainability is usually implemented in a decentralized manner: In 80 percent of companies, sustainability activities are managed by cross-functional teams or working groups.
